Summary 1

Topic 1: Planning comes first when building a website.

When it comes to making a website, you need to make sure everyone on your team is on the same page and make sure that everyone is contributing to the site. The right amount of planning is key to a successful site, too much of it is a time waster, too little planning can cause serious problems later on. But, once everyone has the basics for what the website is going to be, it is a good idea to look at those who have done similar websites in the past to learn what worked for them and what failed.

Topic 2: Site maps give the information of the site

Once you are doing figuring out who the site is meant for, who will use is and what people will be doing on the site, you can now look into the information that will be provided on the website along with how you will access parts of it and how it will be displayed. Site maps are the way to go when breaking down all these elements and they should start as paper sketches before you even start to develop them on the software you’re using. Site maps also help with ensuring all elements of a webpage are present and are overlooked. These elements being footers, logos, calls to action, etc.

Topic 3: What software you use will be important in the creation of your website.

Before even doing any coding, one must decide what software is best for the type of site they are planning to make. Many people will say that Microsoft products like Office or Visio are the way to go when creating your website but you should really figure out what actually helps you plan and work well rather than what could end up hindering you. And if you’re working with a client you also need to take into consideration the software you’re using and make sure that you both know how to use it as both you and the client might be making future updates to this site.
