Topic 1 – Taking time to plan is very important when designing a website.

Planning before initiating a task is always important, especially when it comes to Web Design. In order to reach certain objectives planning and collaboration with each team member is crucial. Every project varies as to how much time goes into the planning process. Usually, the more objectives that need to be met the more planning is required.

Topic 2 – Site maps should be used no matter how complex a website might be.

Site maps help organize the structure of websites. Information that is to be placed on the website is displayed on the site map. When site maps are used to organize complex websites, they can be broken down into fewer sections. Site maps are usually created first as paper sketches and then moved to software. The footer, logo, and call to action are included on the site map.

Topic 3 – There are a number of tools that can be utilized for planning a website.

Numerous tools can be used to organize information for a website. Microsoft products, especially Office, can be used during the planning process. Visio is recommended for site maps and wireframes. Word and Excel can be used for content outlines, summaries, and research. Utilizing these tools for the planning process provides a better work flow and an overall stronger website.
