Fonts vs. Text

Fonts are the different kinds of typefaces, can be categorized into collections, made up of families, + ech font is a set of letters, numbers, + symbols that are unique.

Text describes the words/characters such as heading.

Fonts can be applied, whereas text has specfic properties.


Fonts that are Available to Everyone

Serif

  • Georgia
  • Palatino/Book Antiqua
  • Times New Roman

Sans-serif

  • Arial
  • Arial Black
  • Arial Narrow
  • Tahoma
  • Trebuchet
  • Verdana

Monospace

There are three main ways to specify Web fonts:

  1. Use a hosted font library that delivers fonts to your Web pages (Google Fonts)
  2. Use a pre-packaged @font-face kit
  3. Generate an @font-face kit from one of your own fonts using Font Squirrel
