Plan the Perfect Site
Planning is Key
Before even beginning to put code in the designer must come up with a plan of what they want the website to look like. Most web designers jump right in and hope nothing will go wrong, but that is exactly how things easily go wrong. A good plan is drawn out first. It is as simple as creating a layout of different boxes and lines for text. This is a great place to get started. Examples of these types of maps are site maps, process flows, and user paths. Other great ways of planning ahead happen through collaboration. However, before you can even begin making maps of the website the designer or team must get the perspective of the client and predicted users.
Finding Out Who the Website is For
Something the designer or team of designers must think about is who is this website for. Most of the time there are two types of people to think about. There is the client who is paying the team to make the website and the people who will end up using the website. It is good to always stay on the same page as your client so that way no confusion can happen. While the client is the one paying the designer and/or team it is also good to get a sense of what kind of people will be looking at and using this website. To figure this out it is good to do interviews and to do research.
Knowing Your Tools
Knowing the kind of tools that a designer will use to plan out and make the website is also very helpful. Feeling comfortable with the resources that the designer uses is a must. It is also beneficial for the designer to know if the tools that they plan to use will still be operatable in the future. This is important, because even if the designer thinks the website is perfect now, they will definitely make changes in the future.
