Web Design Summary 1
Plan The Perfect Site
Topic 1: Beginning to Plan A Website
The first step to planning a website is to figure out how much planning is required for the website. Too much planning results in wasted effort, and too little planning will lead to a website that doesn’t quite accomplish your goals. Another part of planning your website is to make sure that all members of the project are working towards the same goal. Collaboration is an important part of planning your website. If everyone is not on the same page, then your website will show that.
Topic 2: Purpose and Audience of a Website
Who is going to use the website? This is an important thing to take into account. The website should be focused on the end consumer—the ones who will be using the website. When making decisions for the end consumer it’s important to do research instead of making assumptions about what the end consumer wants. Another thing to note here is that you have to balance the needs of the client and the end consumer.
Topic 3: Sitemaps and Wireframes
When it comes down to actually planning the website, your gonna need to figure out the structure. Not only will site maps help you avoid bad navigation structure, but they will help simplify the user experience. Planning your website using site maps and wire frames helps you make the mistakes early on, before the website has actually gone up. Once the website is up, it will be harder to make changes. This is also why it’s important to get clients to focus on pure aesthetics and structure instead of little details. The client will understand why you planned the website the way you did and will be less likely to nitpick little details once the site is up.
