Summary 1

Topic 1: Planning- Planning is very important when creating a new webpage for a client or company. This is because designing and creating a webpage from scratch is similar to building a house. It needs blueprints and sketches so everyone working on the project sees what the end product will look like. Part of planning too is also making sure that your project isn’t too similar to a competitor's website; or else it may seem you copied. It also allows you to see what works and doesn't work for people. This is all done to make sure the project succeeds.

Topic 2: The User- The main person to please when working for a client, is not your client. It's your client’s clients. These are the people who are going to be using that particular site the most, and depending on the target audience, it will need to cater to them. In order to ensure this, a large amount of research and focus testing must be done in order to have it done right. If its done wrong, it will be a downfall for your client as it gives their competitor an unfair advantage, as people go to where it's easier to get help and support.

Topic 3: Consistency and Mapping- It is very important to keep up with ease of use and consistency when designing multiple pages for a company's website. It is often noted that the home page and the second most important page work well and are easy to use; but go 3, 4 or 5 pages deep and the level of work seems to decrease. Ways to limit these issues are by developing wireframes and sitemaps. These two things act like a very large blueprint or story board, where you can see and plan the whole webpage so that the design can stay consistent throughout the whole project.
