Workshop + Online Conference, Parts 1 & 2

This page describes the objectives, activities, submission guidelines, and on-going work required for the Online Conference workshops.

Workshop Overview

This workshop offers an opportunity to engage in discussion of the content of the Scholarly Projects / Presentations. Working though SVSU Canvas, you engage peers with questions about their work during part 1, and they do the same in return. During part 2, you respond to two questions of your choice from peers.

Workshop Objectives

Workshop Details

This workshop is pretty straightforward. Part 1 requires you to view your peers' Presentations from SVSU Canvas, and pose two content-related questions to each. Part 2 requires you to pick 2 questions from those asked of you, and respond through a brief screencast that you post back to Canvas.

Part 1: Listen and Pose Questions to Peers

View the videos for all of your classmates. Engage each by posing two questions about the substance of his or her Presentation. That is, do not ask questions about how they came up with their topic, or why they are interested in it. Instead, ask questions that seek deeper understanding of the research, the outcomes, or the applications.

Part 2: Respond to Questions from Peers

Use Techsmith Jing (or a similar package or service) to record a 3 to 5 minute response to 2 of the questions you were asked by peers during Part 1. That is, record 1 screencast that is 3 to 5 minutes long in total in which you respond to both questions.

To facilitate that recording, prepare a slide (or similar screen document) for each question. Present the question you were asked, and frame your response. Record your explanation as a screencast.

Evaluation Standards

This section describes the standards by which your work will be evaluated for these workshops. Attend carefully to these details. If you do so, you will earn full credit for the two workshops.
