Copper Summit Ski and Golf has been serving Michigan since 1949. The Brockway family has owned and operated Copper Summit since 1957. There are six lifts serving 10 runs, including numerous terrain features, and a snow tubing park on 43 acres. The ski season runs November through March, weather permitting. Recent additions to Copper Summit include the Zip Line Tours and Rocks and Valleys Off-Road Park. The area is just off US 127, between Clare and Harrison, MI.

Ski Facilities

Snowmaking

50 snowmaking positions with a capacity of up to 1,000 gallons of water per minute, allowing for up to 12" of machine-made snow in 24 hours at temperatures of 20°F.

Ski Lodge

5,500 square feet featuring a Bar & Lounge, Short Order Grill, Rental Shop, Ski Patrol First Aid, Ticketing, Ski School Lesson Center, and Reception & Group Sales upstairs.

Ski School Lesson Center

PSIA/AASI certified with over 30 instructors, offering group and private ski and snowboard lessons for all abilities.

Rental Shop Equipment

350 sets of skis, 100 junior skis, 110 snowboards, 20 Snow Blades.

Terrain Park

Includes jumps, bumps, mounds, rails, and table tops for boarders

Tubing

2 Handle tows, 4 Tubing Runs, 160 Tubes with a 100 ft. vertical drop and a longest run of 750 ft.

Zip Line Tours

Starting with a 60-foot practice line, the tour includes 10 ziplines, ending with the TWIN ZIP over 4,000 feet of cable, reaching heights of up to 70 feet.

Off-Road Park

Over 200 acres with hills, rocks, mud, and trails for all skill levels in Northern Michigan terrain.

From Southern Michigan: US 127 N to Mannsiding Road, Exit #168.

From Eastern Michigan: U.S. 10 to Clare, then North on US 127 N to Mannsiding Road, Exit #168 (about 10 miles).

From Western Michigan: U.S. 10 to Clare, then North on US 127 N to Mannsiding Road, Exit #168 (about 10 miles).

Winter Bike Trails

Copper Summit is excited to add Winter Fat Bike Trails to its list of winter fun! Grab your fat tire bike and enjoy 6 miles of groomed trails. The six miles of trails consist of two loops a one mile hilly curvy extreme trail (Zipper Loop) and five mile loop through the wilderness (Golf Course Loop).

We added a new flow loop inside the Zipper Loop to enjoy!

Closed - Due to ungroomable trails, bare spots and ice.

12-11-2017 - Not open yet

12-13-2017 - 8" fresh snow - first grooming passes

12-15-2017 - Groomed and ready for Saturday opening

12-16-2017 - Groomed - Riders report trails are soft

12-16-2017 - Zipper trail conditions are marginal. The limited snow is not holding.

12-18-2017 - Trails closed

12-21-2017 - Trails reopened - Conditions are a little ruff but ridable.

12-30-2017 - Trails groomed and in great shape.

01-02-2018 - Trails groomed at 9 a.m. windy day it may drift later in the day.

01-06-2018 - Trails groomed in good condition.

01-10-2018 - Trails closed due to warm weather.

01-11-2018 - Trails closed due to warm weather and rain.

01-12-2018 - Trails closed until we receive measurable snow. Unfortunately what is left of the trail is all ice. With little snow we are not able to groom.

02-09-2018 - Bike trails reopened - Very soft conditions - The trails were packed several times this week, howerever the snow is light and fluffy so the trail is soft.

02-12-2018 - Trail conditions very soft. We contintinue to pack the trails. The snow was very fluffy and it is not packing very well. With warm temps later this week thing should get better.

02-16-2018 - Closed - Not able to groom. Too many bare spots and very icy.

Other Notes

Watch out for loose snow and icy spots on the trail.

The trails are closed if raining or if temperatures are above 40 degrees.

Minimum tire width of 3.7".

The Copper Summit Web Cam image updates every fifteen minutes, and lets you see exactly what the hill looks like!

What the webcam doesn't show is the beautiful 18 hole golf course or the zip line (usually!). The tenth and final zip line does zip right across this view so you may just get lucky and see some zippers from time to time!

Copper Summit Drone Policy

Out of safety concerns for guests, employees, and resort property, as well as concerns for individual privacy, Copper Summit Ski Area prohibits the operation or use of unmanned aerial systems, or drones, by the general public including recreational users and hobbyists without the prior written authorization from the Ski Area. This prohibition includes drones used for filming or videotaping, as well as any drone use by media or journalists operating above or within Copper Summit Ski Area boundaries.

This prohibition on drone operations or use extends to any drones launched or operated from Ski Area property, as well as drones launched from private property outside of the Ski Area boundaries. Please contact a resort representative at (989) 539-6583 if you have any questions or if you seek prior authorization to operate any aerial drones. Any authorized operation of aerial drones may be governed by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations, local law enforcement as well as those policies separately established by Copper Summit Ski Area, which may include certification, training, insurance coverage, indemnification requirements, and waivers or releases of liability.

Any violation of this policy may involve suspension of your skiing or snowboarding privileges, and/or the revocation of your season pass, as well as confiscation of any drone equipment, and may subject violators to any damages, including, but not limited to, damages for violations of privacy and/or physical or personal injuries or property damage, as well as regulatory fines and legal fees.
